The marble plaque commemorates the Reverend John Virtue McNair who was Minister of the former St Giles Presbyterian Church, also known as the West End or High Church, for 26 years.

Word has been received that the Rev. J. V. McNair, minister of High Presbyterian Church, Geelong, who has been seriously ill for twelve months, has intimated his intention of resigning his charge at an early date. Mr. McNair has been minister of High Church for about a quarter of a century.

Geelong. A tablet erected in High Church in memory of the late Rev. J.V. McNair, for 26 years minister of the church, was unveiled on Thursday evening by Professor Skene in the presence of a large congregation.
