            FRIENDS IN MEMORY OF

BERNARD ESSEX EVANS AND MAY HAYMAN
    FORMER SUNDAY SCHOOL TEACHERS.

SERGEANT BERNARD EVANS LAID DOWN HIS LIFE 
IN THE DEFENCE OF SINGAPORE AT MERSING, MALAYA
DURING THE SECOND WORLD WAR ON 26TH JANUARY, 1942

SISTER MAY HAYMAN, A MISSIONARY NURSE 
IN THE SERVICE OF THE AUSTRALIAN BOARD OF MISSIONS IN PAPUA WAS SLAIN BY THE JAPANESE NEAR GONA ON 1ST SEPTEMBER, 1942.
