A garden commemorates Private George Cartwright who was awarded the Victoria Cross (V.C.) for his conspicuous bravery during the attack on Road Wood, near Bouchavesnes, France during World War One.

This memorial garden is dedicated to the memory of PTE. GEORGE CARTWRIGHT V.C. E.D who was awarded the Victoria Cross for conspicuous bravery during the attack on Road Wood, south-west of Bouchavesnes, near Peronne, France, on 31 August 1918.
This plaque was unveiled on Saturday 9th September 2000 in the presence of representatives of Parramatta City Council, the State Branch of the RSL, the Department of Veterans` Affairs, members of the Cartwright Family and community members.
