Tombstone erected by friends to the memory of Andrew Alexander who was medical officer for many years aboard the steamship Great Britain.  Andrew Alexander died in 1871. 

The SS Great Britain was the world's first propeller-driven, iron-hulled, steamship. Great Britain carried thousands of immigrants to Australia until converted to sail in 1881.
