Matron RobisonPrint Page Print this page

A stained glass window of Florence Nightingale with Crimean War soldiers in memory of Mrs Robison, matron of the Queen Victoria Sanatorium at Wentworth Falls.

Matron Robison, who died in 1958, was the widow of an Australian doctor who had died in Germany while seeking a cure for his tuberculosis in the late 1890s. His young widow, a nurse, returned to Sydney to turn her grief to practical ends and she opened a TB clinic on Olympian Parade at Leura in 1900.
