A monument commemorates George Renison Bell who first discovered tin in North-Eastern Tasmania at Boobyalla in 1874.  He also discovered other tin deposits in the Ringarooma District.

Actual Monument Dedication Date:Saturday 23rd November, 1974
Front Inscription

This plaque commemorates the pioneering work of George Renison Bell (1840 - 1915) who discovered the first tin in North-Eastern Eastern Tasmania at Boobyalla in March, 1874.  

He followed this with several other finds of payable tin ore, which greatly stimulated the early development of the Ringarooma Municipality.

Erected by Ringarooma Council on November 23rd, 1974
