JOHN PRINCE, A BRITISH MERCHANT SEAMAN, ARRIVED IN AUSTRALIA IN THE LATE 1800S AND WENT TO ESTABLISH WHAT WAS TO BECOME A SUBSTANTIAL ENTERPRISE.
IT WAS A SMALL COTTAGE ON THIS SITE IN 1905 THAT THE FLEDGLING LAUNDRY WAS BORN.
THE DETERMINATION OF JOHN PRINCE AND A FURTHER THREE FAMILY GENERATIONS TRANSFORMED A LOCAL WASHING AND IRONING SERVICE INTO A STATE -OF- THE -ART LAUNDERING AND DRY CLEANING COMPANY.

THIS SCULPTURE IS A MONUMENT TO THE SIGNIFICANT CONTRIBUTION THAT THE PRINCE FAMILY MADE TO THE KINGSTON COMMUNITY OVER THE GENERATIONS BOTH IN EMPLOYING LOCAL PEOPLE AND FOR THEIR CIVIC SERVICE.
