This plaque commemorates the work of government surveyor R.D. Scott who came to survey Camperdown and district in 1852. His work extended from Geelong to the S.A. border. He settled here, building his home on the banks of Lake Gnotuk.

He was so impressed with the beauty of the area that he had this section reserved in perpetuity as a public park and botanic gardens.

Erected by the Camperdown Historical Society, 1989.
