The park commemorates Swan Valley Mayor, Charles "Charlie"  Gregorini, who died in 2008 aged 62.

Charlie Gregorini was a longstanding Mayor of the City of Swan.  His long period of service to local government dated back to his election to the former Shire of Swan in 1977. He was highly respected in his community and indeed across Western Australia, and was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia in 1988 for his personal contribution to local government.

Charles Gregorini was a former Chair of the Local Government Advisory Board, a primary statutory body that advises the Local Government Minister in Wesern Australia.  He exercised leadership on a number of occasions in the development of reviews into the operation of local government in this State.

He was operating the tractor on his Swan View property when it rolled onto its side, killing him.
