Atkinson Walk

Carl Atkinson, a renowned deep-sea diver and engineer took up a lease for the purpose of ship maintenance and storage at Doctors Gully in the early 1950`s.

Mr Atkinson was instrumental in saving the lives of many divers in Darwin over the years after building his own decompression chamber. His efforts also played a part in our tourism industry

He fed a large school of Milkfish which came regularly to the inlet of Doctors Gully on high tide.

The area is now a popular tourist destination.

He died on the Gold Coast in 1985.
