A plaque commemorates Alexander Morrison who was active in education, and a member of the Royal Commission on Education appointed in 1886.  

Morrison was elected a life member of the University Council in 1878, and was a senior member of that body. He was the proposer of the erection of Ormond College, and was mainly instrumental in getting Francis Ormond to erect and endow the college.   He was an elder of the Scots' Church, and represented in the Presbyterian General Assembly the church of Mornington, which he along with John Connell established.

 
He was a director of the Mutual Assurance Company.
