Morgan Place commemorates Godfrey Morgan and his two sons, Godfrey Morgan and Methuen Young Morgan, former  councillors for the Shire of Murilla. 

Godfrey Morgan was a grazier and parliamentarian, who served as a Councillor for the Shire of Murilla from 1909 to 1910, a member of the Queensland Parliament from 1909 to 1939, serving from 1929 to 1932 as the Minister for Railways.

His son, Godfrey Morgan, was a grazier and a stock and station agent.  He was a Councillor for the Shire of Murilla from 1930 to 1936,  and Shire Chairman from 1936 to 1946.

Methuen Young Morgan, was a grazier and a Councillor for the Shire of Murilla from 1933 to 1946,  and Shire Chairman from 1946 to 1958.
