A bookshelf commemorates Arthur Bennett.

Arthur Bennett was born in 1905, one of ten children of Leonard and Sarah Bennett. He married Viola Evelyn Olding and they had one son. Arthur was a bricklayer by trade and in the late 1950s built the War Service Memorial Chapel at Scotch College.  This he accomplished voluntarily with the aid of working bees of parents and friends of the school and with donations of materials, etc.  Arthur died on 11th June 1963, aged 58.

In his memory, and in grateful recognition of his services to the school, a set of bookshelves of Tasmanian oak, carved with scotch thistles and the school crest, was placed in the foyer of the chapel.
