A plaque commemorates Francis J. Bell, a member of the Kyneton Returned Services League Sub-Branch, who initiated the ceremony of lowering the Australian flag to half-mast at the Kyneton War Memorial on the passing of any member of the Sub-Branch.

Plaque:
This new flag-pole, erected in 1996, replaced the original, then situated south of the cenotaph.  It was donated by Dr Greg McIntyre, and installed with a grant from Australia Remembers (1945 - 1995), in co-operation with the Kyneton R.S.L. and the family of the late Francis J. Bell
