The lookout commemorates Anne Feneley for her contribution to the cultural life of Newcastle from 1953 to 1999.

Up until her death in 1999, Anne Feneley ran a speech, deportment and drama school in Newcastle for three decades. Her name was a byword in the business of imparting the social graces. Manners, etiquette and grooming were essentials on the Feneley curriculum.
