TO THE EDITOR OF THE HERALD. Sir — Municipal Council of North Sydney has placed a tablet in the grounds of the Town Hall which records amongst other statements respecting North Sydney that "The site was gazetted as St Leonards on October 10, 1838." It is not clear why the date of publication of the Government Gazette has been chosen for the inscription, when the perusal of the contents of the journal would have revealed the Colonial Secretary's notification of October 9, 1838. containing the Governors approval of the site. I am, etc., P. C. MOWLE.
