A memorial commemorates the Italian migrants who arrived in Rum Jungle in 1953 to take part in mining operations, and then became permanent settlers in the Northern Territory.

Front Inscription

From 1953 Italian migrants came to Rum Jungle to seek opportunities which were offered by new mining developments.  Many of them became permanent settlers in the north.  They lived and worked to make the Top End a better place.

This plaque honors them and all Italian people who have contributed to the Northern Territory.

Dal 1953, emigrati Italiani arrivarono a Rum Jungle in cerca di lavoro nelle miniere.  Molto di loro divennero residenti permantenti nel Northern Territory e il loro lavoro fu un contibuto essenziale nello sviluppo di tutto il territorio.  

Questo riconoscimento vuole rendere omaggio a loro a a tutti gli Italiani che lasciarono la latria e contribuirono allo sviluppo del Northern Territory.
