The monument commemorates the pioneers of Loch, and the centenary of Loch from 1876 to 1976.

Residents of the picturesque South Gippsland dairying district township of Loch are preparing for their centenary year celebrations which will be held over the Queen's Birthday weekend, June 12-14. Mr Albert Kent, with his bullock team, will lead the opening procession. There will be dancing at night, and after church on Sunday, a memorial plaque will be unveiled.
