Monument  is a replica of `Frenchmans Rock` that was inscribed by a French sailor of Baudin`s expedition while waiting for water casks to fill.  It marks spot where French navigator Nicholas Baudin and the crew of "Le Geographe" found fresh water.   They had been told about a spring in the rocks by the explorer Matthew Flinders.
