Front Inscription

Matthew Flinders, R.N. (1774 - 1814) Commander of H.M.S. Investigator named this coast Indented Head & camped on it with a boat`s crew for the nights of 29 April & 1 May 1802 before crossing the channel from Point Richards to ascend the You Yangs & after his party`s return.

This monument was unveiled by Cr. J. G. Davies, J.P., President, Shire of Bellarine, at the Flinders Bi-Centenary Celebrations 24 March 1974
