Fallen Police MemorialPrint Page
The names of the 24 local fallen officers, who died on duty since 1862, are inscribed on the wall of the memorial. An additional two colonial police killed in 1845, prior to the inception of the NSW Police Force, are also remembered in the form of separate plaques which are located on a seat near the memorial.
The memorial was the idea of Phil Peters, who chairs the Local Retired Police branch, and retired local commander Henry (Harry) Brennan. It took more than 18 months for the project to be competed during which time Mr Brennan died. A separate plaque on a seat commemorates Henry Brennan.

Plaque 1 :
Dedicated to fallen police
Each year, 29 September holds a special significance for police throughout Australia. It is a day for police to pause and honour officers whose lives have been lost while performing their duty as a police officer. This important day is also a time to remember police officers who have lost their lives through illness or other circumstances.
National Police Remembrance Day was first held on 29 September 1989, as a result of a joint decision at the 1988 Australasia and South West Pacific Region Commissioners` Conference.

Lest we forget
Plaque 3 :
As the sun sets, dawn will see it arise.
For service above self demands its own prize.
You have fought the good fight; life`s race has been run,
and peace, your reward, for eternity begun.
And we that are left shall never forget
Rest in peace, friend and colleague, for sun has now set.
We will remember, we will remember.
Hasten the dawn.
