The plaque commemorates the opening of the Dental Hospital and College in July 1941.

The new dental hospital, erected at a cost of £105,000 was opened yesterday by the Minister for Health (Mr Hanlon). In declaring the building open, Mr. Hanlon said it was a gift of the Government to the people of Queensland. The dental policy of the State was that no teeth should be extracted if they could be saved. and that extracted teeth should be replaced. Every patient who went to the hospital would leave with a fully restored mouth.
