A plaque on gates at the entrance to Deakin Reserve commemorates the Royal Visit during March 1954 of Queen Elizabeth II to Shepparton. The Queen and Prince Philip were received by the Mayor Vince Vibert at Deakin Reserve before a crowd estimated at between 20,000 and 30,000.
