The grove of trees commemorates the Australians killed at Interlaken in Switzerland. Individual plaques listing the names of those killed have been placed on tree offcuts in the grove. 

Fourteen Australians were killed when a flash flood swept 18 tourists to their death in a canyon near Interlaken in Switzerland in 1999.
