Cairns Massacre Memorial Trees Print Page Print this page

Eight frangipani trees planted on the first anniversary in memory of the victims of the Cairns massacre in 2014.

The slain children included seven siblings and their cousin, and were aged from two to 14. Raina Mersane Ina Thaiday, 38, the mother of seven of the children, has been charged with their murders. It is one of Australia's worst domestic mass murders and is currently undergoing psychiatric assessment.

The house where the crime occurred has been demolished.
