The tree represents Australia`s membership of the International community and the continuing contribution made to international peace and friendship in the century since Australia was established.

INTERNATIONAL TREE OF PEACE

This Bunya Pine was planted in the soils of many lands by 

His Excellency the Honourable Sir William Deane, AC KBE
Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia 

And representatives of over 70 nations as part of the 
ACT celebration of the Centenary of Federation.
