The monument commemorates the members of the community who saved the Albert Valley from its inundation if the Wolffdene Dam had been built.  The building of the dam was cancelled on the 8th of December 1989.

Dedication

Front Inscription

This monument is dedicated to the people who stood solid as a rock and saved the beautiful Albert Valley from the controversial Wolffdene Dam.

The Dam was cancelled on 8 - 12 -1989

It remains a testament to those people who saved their environment for all future generations to enjoy.
