The tree commemorates the Diamond Jubilee of the Stanthorpe branch of the Country Women`s Association.

At a formal meeting of women interested in the Queensland Country Women's Association, held in Stanthorpe on May 2, a branch of the association was formed, and the following officers were elected:— President, Mrs. C. F. White; vice-presidents, Mesdames L. B. Elwell and E. B. Yuille; treasurer, Mrs. L. Bedford Elwell; secretary, Mrs. George B. Barnett; committee, Mesdames Elwell, Chauvel, Tremayne, Bateman, and Miss White (Stanthorpe), Mesdames Newton (Bendee), Cowley and Steele (Ballandean), Yuille (Thulimbah), Strain (Cottonvale), Hill (Severnlea), Salisbury and Lowe (Broadwater).
