Green Ban Parks commemorates the support given by the Construction, Forestry, Mining and Energy Union which blocked the development of the parks land by imposing green bans.

GREEN BAN PARKS

Green Ban Parks is named in honour of the support given by the Construction, Forestry, Mining and Energy Union which blocked development of these two parcels of land through green bans.

Direct action by the Erskineville Save the Parks Committee, the local community and council was vital in retaining these open spaces as a community park.

The park was handed over to South Sydney Council by the Deputy Premier of NSW, Dr Andrew Refshauge MP on Saturday, 9 March 1996
