North Mackay Memorial GatesPrint Page
North Mackay Memorial Gates were erected as a memorial to servicemen who died in service or were killed in action during the Second World War.
The gates were opened by the State Governor, Sir John Lavararack on the 28th April 1952. The gates were built by the North Mackay Welfare Association as a memorial to servicemen who fought and died in the Second World War. The Association had previously asked Princess Elizabeth (now Queen Elizabeth ) to open the memorial.
