The monument commemorates two servicemen who died in service during World War Two.

Two hundred district residents paid tribute at the unveiling of the Muckadilla War Memorial to the memory of the late Gunners George Newborn and Sandy Arthur who made the supreme sacrifice in P.O.W. camps. The monument, a granite column on a concrete base, was erected by Muckadilla Memorial Committee and unveiled by Mr. A.M. Blain MHR on the 8th January 1949. Mr Blain spent over 3 years in a Japanese P.O.W. camp. Mr G. Mott, chairman of the committee presided over the service which was conducted by Captain Mansell of the Salvation Army.
