The hall commemorates those who served in World War Two.
A military parade by the specially trained Queen's guard will be a feature of the official opening ceremony of the Launceston War Memorial Hall on Windmill Hill on February 17. The open air ceremony will be followed by a concert in the hall in which many well known Launceston musicians and singers will be participating.

THIS IS THE FOUNDATION STONE OF THE LAUNCESTON WAR MEMORIALS COMMUNITY CENTRE TO BE ERECTED ON THIS SITE IN GRATITUDE FOR THE SUPREME SACRIFICE AND DEVOTION OF OUR SERVICE MEN AND WOMEN DURING WORLD WAR 2 1939 - 1945.
