The cairn is dedicated to the servicemen and women of the Second World War, including the 8th Division Nursing Sisters.There is also a plaque dedicated to the row of memorial trees behind the monument, which were planted in memory of nursing sisters who lost their lives in the Java Seas and Banka Island in 1942.
