The tree commemorates H.M.A.S. Patricia Cam which was sunk in January 1943 during World War Two.

H.M.A.S. Patricia Cam was an auxiliary vessel operated by the Royal Australian Navy during World War Two. Based in Darwin, H.M.A.S. Patricia Cam was mainly used to transport supplies to small communities, military outposts, and Coastwatchers. She was sunk by a Japanese aircraft in 1943 off the coast of Arnhem Land.
