The clock was erected to commemorate those who served in World War Two. The original clock was erected in 1953 and replaced in 1979.

A clock with two faces has been ordered for the proposed Scottsdale War Memorial clock tower. More than £600 has been collected for the erection of the clock tower. The memorial committee has asked the municipal council to take charge of the money and arrange for the erection of the memorial.
