This cairn and flag pole was erected in memory of the fallen in both World Wars by members of the Mapleton RSL Sub-Branch.

It was officially unveiled on the 8th March 1958 by Mapleton resident Mrs Charlotte Cogill.  

Nine of Mrs Cogill`s relatives served in the Australian Defence Force in WW1 and WW2.
