A monument erected by the residents commemorates those who died in service or were killed in action in World War One.

The unveiling of the Spalding War Memorial  took place on September 10 before a large assembly of residents of the district, Mr J Marron, sen, president of the war memorial committee, in an introductory speech, referred to the desire of the residents, felt both during the time that the boys were away and since their return, to show in some suitable manner their recognition of the great services to freedom and justice so unselfishly given by the young men of Spalding.  Mrs Brogan, a mother of one of those whose names are inscribed on the monument, was given the honor of performing the unveiling.
