The honour roll commemorates those from the Honeysuckle Point workshop who served in World War One.

The roll was unveiled by the Mayor of Newcastle Mr Kilgour on Empire Day 24/05/1915, and it originally contained ten names which grew to 44 at the end of the war
(NSW Railway & Tramways 2/06/1919).

The roll was originally displayed at the Honeysuckle Point Locoworks. After its closure, the board was relocated to Newcastle Station in 1930 where it hung for many years on the platform.

After Newcastle Station was closed in 2014, the board was relocated by Sydney Trains and put into storage at Hamilton Depot until being removed from storage and re-hung at Wickham.
