The monument commemorates the firefighters from Ballarat who served in World War One.

The original memorial was across the road and had fallen into disrepair over the years and been forgotten. It was badly damaged by grass slashers and was going to be removed.  However the Ballarat City Fire Brigade initiated a new monument and were able to protect the original from further damage.

Front Inscription

In August 1917, trees 1001 - 1050 were planted to honour members of Ballarat and District Fire Brigades who served in World War 1.

To mark the plantings, 4 Firemen`s Helmets were constructed and evidence of 3 of these are adjacent to trees 1010, 1045 and 1048.

This Centenary of ANZAC Memorial is dedicated to all Firemen who served.

Donated by Sovereign Concrete Products, Ballarat City Fire Brigade and City of Ballarat to the Arch of Victory / Avenue of Honour Committee
