The walkway commemorates the centenary of ANZAC (Australian and New Zealand Army Corps) 2014 -2018 and a century of service and sacrifice of those who served in the Australian Defence Forces.

Funding of $30000 was received in 2014 -2015 through the ANZAC Centenary Grants Program to provide information plaques for the ANZAC Memorial Walk and improve access to the Oatley Memorial Park.

The information plaques are a series of large billboard type photographs placed strategically in the park.
