A soldier statue commemorates those from Rutherglen and surrounding districts who died in service or were killed in action in World War One. 

Funding for the statue was received through the Anzac Centenary Grants Program. The statue was unveiled to coincide with the centenary of ANZAC commemorations and 100 years of service by the Rutherglen R.S.L.
