The memorial was erected in memory of those from Majorca, Cotswold and Craigie who died in service or were killed in action during World War One. The names of those who served in World War Two were added to the memorial at a later date. 

On Saturday in the public park at Majorca a monument to soldiers was unveiled by Mr Jowett, M. H. R., who also unveiled an honor roll at the Majorca State school. Mr. H.S. B. Gill, B A (district inspector), unveiled a captured German machine gun.
