The monument commemorates those who have served in the various conflicts in which Australia has been involved.

Plaques around the monument commemorate those who served with the Army, Navy and Air Force in conflicts in which Australia has been involved. Insignias and the Australian flag badges are attached on each side of the column. 

It is one of the few Queensland war memorials covered by a roof, and it is made of tapering crow's ash timber.
