The pool commemorates those from the District who died in service or were killed in action during World War One and World War Two.

Winton members of the R.S.L. have decided that a sub-committee wait on the Winton Shire Council to discuss the possibility of building a memorial swimming pool and recreation rooms. This was decided at a meeting in January 1950.
