The monument which includes a Digger statue was originally erected to commemorate those who enlisted from the district in World War One.

A marble tablet was added at a later date and lists those who died in service or were killed in World War Two, and plaques  to commemorate those who served in the Boer, Korean, Malayan, South East Asia and Vietnam campaigns.

The memorial was unveiled by Colonel D. E. Reid, D.S.O., in 1922.
