The monument was originally erected to commemorate those who served in World War One. IIt lists 219 names, including 41 who died in service or were killed in action. It also contains the names of those who enlisted in World War One, World War Two, Malaysia and Vietnam. 

The distinctive draped obelisk memorial features crossed rifles, with slings in right over left position.
