This stone was laid by His Excellency, Admiral Sir Hugh Binney K.C.B., K.C.M.G., D.S.O. Governor of Tasmania on the 6th April 1951.

This building was erected by public subscription & Government assistance as a memorial to the youth & members of this municipality who gave thier services & lives in the wars
