Dear Monument Australia visitors, we are a self-funded, non-profit organisation, dedicated to recording monuments throughout Australia. Over time the costs of maintaining this website have risen substantially (in fact they are probably larger than those of many companies who exist for profit). In the past we have borne all the costs associated with maintaining the website but we are now having difficulties in paying the monthly expenses.
If Monument Australia is useful to you, please make a donation to keep this historical and educational resource available. Your help would be greatly appreciated.
Narembeen War MemorialPrint Page
The Narembeen War Memorial commemorates 28 soldiers who died in service or were killed in action in World Wars One and Two.
The Narembeen War Memorial was erected through the proceeds of the sale of crops on 100 acres of land leased from the Road Board by the Narembeen Sub-Branch of the Sailors, Soldiers and Airmen Fathers' Association of Australia. The granite obelisk was erected carrying a book of remembrance containing the names of residents who paid the supreme sacrfifice.
The memorial was unveiled on the 1st May 1949 by the President of the Sub-Branch, Mr. G.H.Smith with an inspiring address given by the member for the district Mr.C.Perkins M.L.A.
The West Australian, 4th May 1949.
