The War Memorial was originally erected to commemorate those from the who died in service or were killed in action in World Wars One and Two. The memorial lists the names of the fallen in both World Wars as well as Sergeant Tom Langley who lost his life in Afghanista,

The Broomehill War Memorial was erected in November 1949 by the Broomehill RSL Sub-Branch with assistance from the district residents. It is dedicated to the memory of 34 local servicemen who gave their lives in both World Wars. The memorial was unveiled by Mr. F.Chaney of the State Executive of the Returned Services League. Mr Chaney thought that Broomehill was the first district to erect a completely new memorial since the end of World War Two.
