The flagpole commemorates those who have served in the various conflicts in which Australia has been involved. The flagpole stands of the site of the original flagpole which was erected in 1921.

The Unley Soldiers` Memorial Flagpole was presented to the citizens of Unley by the Rotary Club of Unley and stands on the site of the original flagpole erected in 1921, in memory of those who served in the theatre of war
